Bağlaç ve Edat Soruları

YDS'de bağlaç (conjunction), bağlayıcı zarf (transition) ve edat (preposition) soruları her bölümde karşına çıkar: kelime sorularında, cloze testlerde ve cümle tamamlamada. Doğru seçim iki ölçüte dayanır: anlam ilişkisi (zıtlık mı, sebep mi, amaç mı) ve yapı (ardından tam cümle mi, isim/isim öbeği mi geliyor).

Yapı Kuralı: Cümle mi, İsim mi?

• Ardından tam cümle (özne + yüklem) alanlar: although, even though, though, while, whereas, because, since, as, so that, unless, provided that, once.
• Ardından isim/isim öbeği/-ing alanlar (edat): despite, in spite of, because of, due to, owing to, on account of, in addition to, instead of, regardless of, apart from.
• Noktalı virgül ya da nokta sonrası, virgülle kullanılanlar (bağlayıcı zarf): however, nevertheless, nonetheless, therefore, thus, consequently, moreover, furthermore, in addition, on the other hand, otherwise.

Anlam Gruplarına Göre

• Zıtlık/beklenmedik durum: although, even though, despite, in spite of, however, nevertheless, yet. Karşılaştırma: while, whereas, on the other hand, in contrast.
• Sebep: because, since, as, now that / because of, due to, owing to. Sonuç: so, therefore, thus, hence, consequently, as a result, so … that, such … that.
• Amaç: so that, in order that / in order to, so as to (fiil yalın hâli).
• Koşul: if, unless (= if not), provided/providing that, as long as, in case (-e karşı önlem olarak), otherwise.
• Ekleme: moreover, furthermore, in addition, besides, as well as, not only … but also.
• Zaman: when, while, as soon as, once, until, by the time, before, after, since.
• Örnek/açıklama: for example, for instance, such as, namely, that is.

İkili (Correlative) Bağlaçlar

• both … and (hem … hem), either … or (ya … ya), neither … nor (ne … ne), not only … but also (yalnız … değil, aynı zamanda), whether … or (… olsun ya da olmasın). Seçeneklerde eşini görürsen doğrudan eşleştir: cümlede neither varsa boşluk nor olur.

Edat Eşdizimleri

• interested in, responsible for, capable of, aware of, similar to, different from, dependent on, consist of, result in, result from, lead to, contribute to, in terms of, in response to, with regard to.
• Tuzak: result in (sonuçlanmak – sonuç gelir) ile result from (kaynaklanmak – sebep gelir) yön olarak terstir.
