Zarf Cümlecikleri (Adverbial Clauses)

Zarf cümlecikleri ana cümleye zaman, sebep, zıtlık, amaç, sonuç ya da koşul anlamı ekler. YDS'de en sık sorulan konu, bağlacın anlam ve zaman uyumuna göre seçilmesidir.

• Zaman: when, while, as, as soon as, once, until/till, before, after, since, by the time, whenever. Gelecek anlamında yan cümlede will kullanılmaz.
• Sebep: because, since, as, now that, in that, seeing that.
• Zıtlık: although, even though, though, while, whereas, even if; isimle despite / in spite of. Sıfatla devrik zıtlık: Rich as he is, he is unhappy.
• Amaç: so that, in order that (ardından genellikle can/could/will/would).
• Sonuç: so + sıfat/zarf + that (so difficult that), such + (a) + sıfat + isim + that (such a difficult test that), so many/much/few/little + isim + that.
• Tarz/karşılaştırma: as, as if, as though, just as.

Koşul Cümleleri (Conditionals)

• Type 0: If + present, present — genel doğrular: If you heat ice, it melts.
• Type 1: If + present, will/can/may + V — gerçekleşmesi olası gelecek.
• Type 2: If + past (be için were), would/could/might + V — şimdiki ya da gelecekteki gerçek dışı durum.
• Type 3: If + past perfect, would/could/might + have + V3 — geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş durum: If they had taken precautions, the disaster would have been avoided.
• Karma (mixed): If + past perfect, would + V (geçmiş sebep, şimdiki sonuç): If he had studied medicine, he would be a doctor now.

Koşul Bağlaçları ve Devrik Yapı

• unless (= if not), provided/providing that, as long as, on condition that (yeter ki), in case (ihtimaline karşı), otherwise (aksi takdirde), but for / without + isim (olmasaydı).
• if düşürülerek devrik: Should you need help, call me (Type 1); Were I rich, … (Type 2); Had they known, they would have come (Type 3).
• wish / if only: şimdi için past (I wish I knew), geçmiş için past perfect (I wish I had known).

Çözüm İpucu

Koşul sorusunda önce ana cümlenin modalını incele: would have + V3 varsa yan cümle mutlaka had + V3 (ya da devrik Had …) olmalıdır. Seçeneklerde anlamca zıt bağlaçlar (unless / provided that) varsa cümleyi Türkçeye çevirip mantığı kontrol et.
