YDS'de Zaman Soruları

Zaman (tense) soruları dilbilgisi bölümünün en sık görülen türüdür. Seçenekler aynı fiilin farklı zaman çekimleridir; doğru cevabı zaman zarfları ve cümledeki diğer fiilin zamanı belirler. Bu nedenle önce cümledeki zaman ifadesini (since, for, by, ago, recently, so far, by the time) bul.

Temel Zamanlar ve İpuçları

• Simple Present: Genel doğrular, alışkanlıklar, bilimsel gerçekler. Water boils at 100°C.
• Present Continuous: Şu an süren ya da geçici durumlar, değişen eğilimler: is increasing, are becoming.
• Simple Past: Geçmişte bitmiş ve zamanı belli eylem. İpuçları: ago, in 1990, last year, in the 19th century, when he was young.
• Past Continuous: Geçmişte belirli anda süren eylem; genellikle when/while ile kesintiye uğrayan eylem: While they were digging, they found …
• Present Perfect: Geçmişte başlayıp etkisi süren ya da zamanı belirtilmeyen eylem. İpuçları: since, for, so far, up to now, recently, lately, over the past decades, already, yet, ever, never.
• Present Perfect Continuous: Geçmişte başlayıp hâlâ süren eylemin süresi vurgulanır: have been studying for years.
• Past Perfect: Geçmişteki bir olaydan daha önce olan eylem. İpuçları: by the time + past, before/after, until, by 1900. By the time the ambulance arrived, the patient had died.
• Future / Future Perfect: will do; gelecekte bir noktadan önce tamamlanacak eylem için will have done: By 2050, the population will have reached …

Zaman Uyumu Kalıpları

• since + geçmiş zaman, ana cümle present perfect: Since the war ended, the country has developed rapidly.
• by the time + simple present → future perfect; by the time + simple past → past perfect.
• It is the first time + present perfect; It was the first time + past perfect.
• Zaman bağlaçlarından (when, as soon as, before, until, once) sonra gelecek anlamı için will kullanılmaz, simple present gelir: When the results come out, we will announce them.
• no sooner … than / hardly … when: ana cümle past perfect, yan cümle simple past; başa alınırsa devrik yapı: No sooner had he arrived than it started to rain.
